MRS. MAGDALENA BOESE
Magdalena (Unruh) Boese, daughter of Peter and Anna Unruh, was born in Ostrog, Russia, Nov. 13, 1858, and passed away at the home of her daughter at the age of 87 years and 12 days.
When 15 years of age she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was received into the Mennonite church in her native country. When she came to America she and her husband transferred their membership to the Sugar Creek church at Wayland, Iowa, of which she was a member at the time of her death. On the day of her baptism she was married to John Boese.
Twelve children were born to this union. They came to America in 1891 arriving in the Wayland community Sept. 27.
Mrs. Boese possessed a strong physical constitution and was blessed with good health until the infirmities of old age settled upon her. She bore her affliction and expressed herself as willing to go. She passed away at the home of Mrs. John Wieneke, Sunday morning at about 9:30. Her husband passed away Oct 7, 1911.
She is also preceded in death by her oldest son, Tobias, who died in infancy, and a sn Henry and a daughter Anna who passed away at the ages of three, respectively; also a grand-daughter and one great great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her death three sons and six daughters: Katie (Mrs. Ike Roth) and Mrs. Lena Hertig, Wayland, Iowa; Susan Boese, Winfield, Iowa; Harris Boese, Wayland; Mrs. Marie Blindenberg [sic Blydenburgh], Burlington; Jacob Boese, Salina; Joseph Boese, Wayland; Ida (Mrs. John Wieneke) Brighton; Ada (Mrs. Rodney Blake) Burlington; and 28 grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren, besides many friends and neighbors.
