— The aged Henry M. Boese, native of Russia and long-time resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, died at Lake Charles on Feb. 20. He was 94. Mr. Boese lived in the Inman community before moving to Louisiana in 1917. The body was returned to Kansas for final services and burial. A service was held Sunday afternoon at the Harder funeral home, Moundridge, with Rev. C. D. Boese, officiating; followed by services at the Hoffnungsau church near Inman, Rev. Albert Gaeddert, Rev. C. H. Voth and Rev. A. J. Dyck in charge.

HENRY M. BOESE

Henry M. Boese, a son of Henry and Susie Boese, was born in Russia on Nov. 1, 1862. He passed away at Lake Charles, la. on Feb. 20, 1957, at 8:00 p.m., reaching the age of 94 years, three months and 19 days.

He came to America as a young boy and experienced pioneer life in full. He was married to Maria Doerksen on Dec. 10, 1885. To this union were born six children, five daughters and one son. Three daughters and the son preceded him in death, Susana on Feb. 14, 1891, Anna on June 6, 1895, an infant daughter who died at birth, and Henry in November 1918. His wife also preceded him in death on Aug. 19,1896. Of this union there are two daughters who survive, Mrs. Marie Kreuger of Moundridge, Kansas and Mrs. J. J. Nachtigal of Newton, Kansas.

On Nov. 10, 1896, father was married to Anna Abrahams. To this union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters. One son, Jacob, died Oct. 27, 1918

Mr. Boese lived in Kansas for many years, moving to Lake Charles, La. in 1917, where he was a rice farmer. From 1923 to 1936 he lived in Fort Pierce, Fla., where he owned and operated an orange grove. He had lived in Lake Charles since then. Mr. and Mrs. Boese celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 10, 1956.

He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife Anna; eight children, Helen, Mrs. Jacob Kliewer of Henderson, Neb. Ben and Sam of Lake Charles, Tina, Mrs. Rufli of Fort Pierce, Fla., Sara, Mrs. Summerlin of St. Lucie, Fla., Bertha, Mrs. Gardner of Fort Pierce, Maria, Mrs. Kreuger of Moundridge, Kan., and Justina, Mrs. Nachtigal of Newton, Kan.; two daughters-in-law, Caroline and Josephine; five sons-in-law, Jacob A. Kliewer, Jacob J. Nachtigal, Benjamin Summerlin, Herman Rufli, Maurice Gardner; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-granchildren [sic]; two brothers and two sisters, P. H. Boese of Hutchinson, Kan., J. H. Boese of Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. Anna Epp of Turpin, Okla., and Mrs. Maria Wedel of Goessel, Kan., and a host of other relatives and friends. Two brothers, one sister, one sons-in-law, and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 22, at the Hixon Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Rev. Earl B. Emmerich, pastor of the University Methodist Church officiated, assisted by Rev. T. V. Owens, pastor of the Boulevard Baptist Church. The body was sent to Kansas, where final services and vurial took place Sunday, Feb. 24. A service was held at the Harder funeral home in Moundridge, with Rev. C. D. Boese officiating, followed by services at the Hoffnungsau church near Inman, in charge of Rev. Albert Gaeddert, Rev. C. H. Voth and Rev. A. J. Dyck. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

We will miss father's cheerful smile and friendly disposition. His radiant testimony will also be missed by all. We say "Farewell" till we meet again. — The Family.
