Frau Peter Boehr, Tochter von Peter und Phillipina Schowalter, wurde am 12. April, 1855, in Stockborn bei Kaiserslautern, Deutschland, geboren. Am 12. Juni, 1880, heiratete sie Peter Boehr und vier Jahre später kamen sie mit ihren zwei Kindern, Jacob und Marie, nach Henderson, Nebraska, wo sie die ersten neun Jahre in ihrem Adoptivlande wohnten und im Poinierleben [sic Pionierleben]die schwersten Jahre ihres Lebens durch machten. Hier wurden ihnen weitere vier Kinder geschenkt, nämlich: Henry, Elisabeth, Lena, und Anna, welche als kleines Kind starb. Von Henderson siedelten sie über nach Wisner, Nebraska, wo sie 32 Jahr lang wohnten. Es waren dieses die glücklichsten Jahre ihres Lebens. Hier wurde auch ihr jüngster Sohn John geboren, und alle Kinder wuchsen hier auf. In 1925 siedelten die Eltern über nach Bluffton, Ohio, wo ihre Tochter Elisabeth schon sieben Jahre lang am Bluffton College eine Lehrstelle inne hatte. Hier starb der Gatte im Juli, 1930, aber das Elternpaar hatte im Juni Monat vorher noch die große Freude, im Kreise all ihrer Kinder und Großkinder, mit einer Ausnahme, ihre goldene Hochzeit zu feiern. Im Sommer von 1936 siedelte die Mutter mit ihrer Tochter Elisabeth um nach Tiffin, Ohio, wo die Tochter als Glied der Fakultät des Heidelberg College eintrat, und hier wohnte die Mutter bis sie am 17. September, 1944, selig entschlief. Es überleben die Heimgerufene 3 Töchter: Marie, Frau D. J. Brand, Jacksonville, Florida; Lena Frau E. R. Moser, Bluffton, Ohio, Frl. Elisabeth, Tiffin, Ohio; und 3 Söhne: Pred. Jacob P. Baehr, Newton, Kansas; Heinrich Boehr, auf der alten Heimstätte zu Wisner, Nebraska; und John Boehr, Bluffton, Ohio; dazu auch 2 Schwestern: Frl. Lena und Frl. Emma Schowalter, Talmage, Nebraska und 2 Brüder: Jakob Schowalter, Beatrice, Nebraska; und John Schowalter, Lincoln, Nebraska; auch 12 Enkel und 2 Urenkel. Die Heimgerufene, wie auch ihr Gatte, waren beide lebenslänglich Glieder der Mennonitengemeinde. Zur Zeit ihres Ablebens war Mutter Boehr Glied der Mennonitengemeinde zu Bluffton, Ohio, wo die Begräbnisfeier stattfand, geleitet von Pred. J. N. Smucker, unterstützt von Dr. A. H. Schmeußer von der Trinity Evangelical und Reformed Gemeinde zu Tiffin, und Präsident C. E. Josephsohn vom Heidelberg College.

Mrs. Peter Boehr was born on April 12, 1855, in Stockborn Bei Kaiserslautern, Germany, to Peter and Phillippina [sic Phillipina] Schowater [sic Schowalter]. She was married on June 12, 1880, and four years later emigrated with her husband and their two children, Jacob an Maria, to America, settling in Henderson, Nebraska, where they lived the first nine years of their sojourn in the country of their adoption.

Here in the pioneer life of early America they spent the hardest, most difficult years of their life. Here were born three more children, Henry, Elizabeth, and Lena. A fourth child, Anna, born here died in infancy.

From Henderson they moved to Wisner, Nebraska, where they lived for the next 32 years. These were the happy years of their lives. Here their youngest child, John, was born and here all of their children grew up to manhood and womanhood.

In 1925 Mrs. Boehr and her husband, Peter Boehr, moved to Bluffton, Ohio, where their daughter Elizabeth had been teaching in Bluffton College for the previous seven years. Mr. Boehr died in July, 1930, but not before he had the great joy a few weeks before his death of celebrating with Mrs. Boehr the golden anniversary of their marriage.

In the summer of 1936 Mrs. Boehr moved with her daughter, Elizabeth, to Tiffin where the daughter had accepted a position in the faculty of Heidelberg College. Mrs. Boehr was living in Tiffin where she passed away on Sept. 17, 1944.

With the exception of the child who died in infancy, all of Mrs. Boehr's six children survive her. There are three daughters: Marie, now Mrs. D. J. Brand of Jacksonville, Florida; Lena, Mrs. E. R. Moser of Bluffton, Ohio.; and Miss Elizabeth Boehr of Tiffin, Ohio.; three sons: The Rev. Jacob P. Boehr, Newton, Kans.; Henry Boehr, Wisner, Nebr., who lives on the old homestead; and John Boehr of Bluffton,Ohio. Also surviving Mrs. Boehr are two sisters: The Misses Lena and Emma Schowalter of Talmage, Nebr.; and two brothers: Jacob Schowalter of Beatrice, Nebr., and John Schowalter of Lincoln, Nebr. In addition twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren live to mourn her loss.

Both Mrs. Boehr and her husband have been life-long members of the Mennonite church. At the time of her death Mrs. Boehr was a member of the Mennonite church at Bluffton, Ohio, at which church the funeral services were held with the Rev. J. N. Smucker, pastor of the church Dr. A. H. Schmeuszer, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church of Tiffin, Ohio, and Pres. Clarence E. Josephson of Heidelberg College officiating.
