• Funeral services for Aaron Y. Boeckner, 67, of rural Moundridge were held Tuesday forenoon at the Meridian Mennonite Church near Hesston, with Ministers Harry Wenger and Milfred Wenger officiating. Mr. Boeckner died Friday evening, April 18, at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. A native of Plymouth, Neb., he had farmed in the Moundridge community since his marriage to Gertrude Holdeman in 1925. She survives with sons Wilmont of rural Newton, Gerald and Weldon of Moundridge and Dennis of Lebanon, Ore.; nine daughters, Mrs. Clifford Penner of St. Marys, Ont., Mrs. Kenneth Dyck of Newton, Mrs. Kenneth Litwiller of Almena, Wis., Mrs. Chester Johnson of DeRidder, la., Mrs. Harold Schmidt of Walton, Mrs. Newell Eicher of Atmore, Ala., Mrs. Andy Powell of Moundridge, Mrs. Paul Toews of St. Marys, Ont., and Mrs. Fred Decker of Leland, Miss.; 48 grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.

AARON Y. BOECKNER

Aaron Y. Boeckner, son of John and Sarah Boeckner, was born near Plymouth, Neb. on July 9, 1901, and peacefully fell asleep in the Lord at Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan. on April 18, 1969, at the age of 69 years, nine months, and nine days.

He grew to young manhood and received his education in the community of his birth. At the age of 18 he with his parents moved on a farm in the Moundridge, Kan. community which was his home at the time of his passing. Only a few months after settling in Kansas and attending the Meridian Church services he became convicted of his lost condition and gave his heart and life to Christ. He was baptized Jan. 27, 1920, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, in which he continued to the end. For a number of years he was singing leader and Sunday school teacher.

On July 26, 1925, he was married to Gertrude Holdeman at the Meridian Church. This union was blessed with four sons and nine daughters.

He was a good husband and father and in his friendliness won many friends wherever he went. He was a hard worker and a good provider. Even though he fought many spiritual battles, we rejoice with him in his victory through the love and grace of God.

About a year ago after returning from a trip to Mexico he suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized for a number of weeks in Carlsbad, N. M. Last September he had another heart attack. After a few weeks he again enjoyed a fair recovery and was pleased to again attend church services including our last revival and communion services. Last February he suffered a stroke which left him partially paralyzed. These experiences in the last year in particular wrought in him a grace and faith in God that prepared him for his sudden death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his deeply bereaved companion Gertrude; four sons and nine daughters, Wilmont and wife Roberta of Newton, Anita and husband Clifford Penner of St. Marys, Ontario, Leona and husband Kenneth Dyck of Newton, Lela and husband Kenneth Litwiller of Almena, Wis., Mae and husband Chester Johnson of DeRidder, La., Vada and husband Harold Schmidt of Walton, Blanche nd husband Newell Eicher of Atmore, Ala., Gerald and wife Thelma of Leland, Miss., JoAnn and husband Andy Powell and Weldon and wife Lois of Moundridge, Rose and husband Paul Toews of St. Marys, Ontario, Lois and husband Fred Decker of Leland, Miss., Dennis and wife Eileen of Lebanon, Ore.; 48 grandchildren; one brother Dan and wife Dorothy of Moundridge; two sisters, Mrs. Goerge [sic George] (Leah) Dyck of Hesston and Mrs. Frank (Mary) Wenger of Moundridge.

His parents and one sister, Verena, precede him in death. — Mother and Children.
