PIONEER IN PUBLISHING BUSINESS DIES
Elkhart, Ind. — Ben I. Bixler, who was associated with a pioneer Mennonite publishing venture here, died March 24 at the age of 94.
In 1891 Mr. Bixler joined the staff of the Mennonite Publishing Co., which had been moved here from Chicago by its founder, John F. funk. In 1908 the company was sold and the name changed to the James A. Bell Co.
A native of Edom, Va., Mr. Bixler was president of the firm until his retirement in 1955. He was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church.
