Aged Man, Three-Year-Old Boy Killed in Highway Accidents
Wooster, Ohio. — Seventy-eight year old John H. Miller of the Amish settlement at Navarre was fatally hurt and Melvin Lehman, 61, of rural Orrville suffered critical injuries in an accident on US 250 near here April 28.
Lehman, driving a dump truck, was following the horse drawn buggy occupies by Mr. Miller. As he attempted to slow down, his truck veered into the opposite lane and struck an oncoming cattle truck, and then fell onto the buggy.
Lloyd E. Mishler, 48, driver of the cattle truck, escaped with minor injuries. However, one cow in his truck was killed and eight others were injured and had to be killed.
The aged Mr. Miller leaves his wife and a large family of descendants.
Bluffton, Ohio. — Funeral services were held at the Ebenezer church near here April 27 for three-year-old Dale Marvin Bixel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julus Bixel of rural Lima who lost his life on the Lincoln Highway east of Beaverdam.
The little boy ran onto the highway from a barnyard and was hit by a Ft. Wayne motorist. Six children standing nearby shouted a warning, but to no avail.
