ANNA DAYTON BISHOP

Anna “Ann” Dayton Bishop, 88, of Sellersville, Pa., died Dec. 20, 2009, at Rockhill Mennonite Community, where she was a resident the past 10 years. Before that, she lived 57 years in Doylestown. She was born Sept. 30, 1921, to Robert P. and Rhoda Yoder Dayton Gross near Ridgeley, W.Va.

On April 25, 1942, she married J. Vernon Bishop of Doylestown. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1998.

Over the years, she and her husband served as camp directors at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center, Mount Pleasant; as members of the Parents Council at Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va., and as leaders of Torchbearer youth programs at their church. She was a member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. She hosted many friends and guests in her home and was known for her gift of hospitality.

Survivors include four sons, James V. Bishop and his wife, Anna, of Harrisonburg, Va.; Robert D. Bishop and his wife, Sharon, of Doylestown, J. Eric Bishop and his wife, Linda, of Souderton, and Michael S. Bishop and his wife, Brenda, of Blooming Glen; a daughter, Rebecca A. Swartzendruber and her husband, Daniel, of German Valley, Ill.; two sisters, Virginia Moreland of Pinto, Md., and Lois Byler-Mouraski of Pueblo, Colo.; four brothers, Calvin P. Dayton, Ridgeley, W.Va., David Dayton, Keyser, W.Va., John M. Dayton, Blooming Glen, and Philip N. Dayton, Ridgeley, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. Burial was in the Blooming Glen church cemetery.
