Peter Bergman, son of John and Helena Buhr Bergman, was born July 16, 1889, on a farm south of Mt. Lake, Minn. and passed away in a Seattle, Wash. hospital on Nov. 11, 1959, after having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage the evening before while at work, having reached the age of 70 years, three months and 25 days.

In his youth he attended district school and also the German Bible school at Mt. Lake. On May 12, 1913 he was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ by Elder Jacob Stoesz and became a member of the First Mennonite church.

In June 1916 he was married to Kate Teichroew and they went to Frazer, Mont. where he had filed on a homestead. A few years later the Bethel Lustre Mennonite church was formed, of which he was a charter member. After 27 years he sold the cattle and wheat ranch because of the death of the only son. From there the family moved to Seattle, Wash., where he was an aircraft worker at the Boeing plant for about a year and a half. In 1946 he bought the service station at which he was working when he was stricken.

He was known by his many friends for his integrity and trustworthiness, and his cheery voice and winning smile will be missed by a host of friends and relatives. he worked hard all his life and the Lord granted him good health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest sister, Mrs. John P. Derksen (Helena), two brothers and two sister in their infancy, and his son, Donald, at the age of 18.

He is survived by his wife, Kate; his only daughter, Marjorie Schroeder, son-in-law, Vern Schroeder, and three grandchildren, Donald, Kathryn, and Lois; one brother, John, of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, (Gertrude) Mrs. P. P. Klassen and (Anna) Mrs. P. G. Wall, of Mt. Lake, (Marie) Mrs. D. S. Schroeder and Nettie Bergman of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

A memorial service was held at the Greenlake Funeral Home in Seattle on Nov. 14. At the time of his death he was a member of the University Presbyterian church of Seattle.

Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at the First Mennonite church of Mt. Lake. Rev. Willard Wiebe officiated. A mixed octet sang accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Nickel.

His favorite Scripture portion was the 90th Psalm and the favorite verse was the 12th. We mourn his passing but not without hope for in the resurrection day we shall all be joined with him and with our Lord throughout Eternity. — The Family.
