MRS. MARGARET BERGMAN

Margaret Bergman, daughter of John and Catherine (Isaac) Hamm Sr., was born on July 25, 1883, in Beatrice, Neb. She died on June 8, 1954, at Paso Robles, Calif. They came to California in the fall of 1898 and settled in the Castle Rock district of Adelaide. She was baptized on her confession of faith on Oct. 27, 1901, at the San Marcos Mennonite church of which she remained a lifelong member.

On May 15, 1902, she was married to John A. Bergman. To this union four children were born, Alfred, Louis, Erwin, and Alvin. She was preceded in death by one son, Erwin, in 1934, and by her husband in 1949.

The family moved from Adelaide to the Willow Creek district west of Paso Robles in 1910, where she lived until the last few months. She had several strokes in the last few years, and several during the last six weeks. She reached the age of 70 years.

She is survived by three sons: Alfred, Louis, and Alvin; two brothers, John Hamm and Frank Hamm; two sisters, Marie, Mrs. H. A. Claassen, and Katie, Mrs. H. A. Wiebe; and seven grandchildren, all of Paso Robles, and many relatives and friends.

Services were held in the Seocnd Mennonite church of Paso Robles on June 11, 1954, with Rev. Edward Toews officiating. His sermon was based on Job 19: 25-27.
