JOHN BERGMAN

John Bergman was born to Peter and Helena (Voth) Bergman on Nov. 11, 1877 as Mountain Lake, Minn., and went to be with the Lord on May 9, 1967, reaching the age of 89 years, five months, and 28 days.

As a young boy he moved with his parents to McPherson County, Kansas, and in 1893 they came to make their home in the Corn, Okla. community where he spent the rest of his life.

On Feb. 6, 1906 he was married to Eva Richert. This union was blessed with one daughter and four sons. One son, Otto, preceded him in death.

As a young man father was brought to a realization of his lost condition under the ministry of Missionary Frank Wiens. With the help of his mother he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. He was baptized in January 1909 and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church of which he remained a faithful member.

Our parents made their home on a farm northwest of Corn, where they spent most of their 52 years together. They were privileged to commemorate their golden wedding anniversary in February 1956. Three years later, on Sept. 13, 1959, mother was taken from his side through death. In 1960 father retired from the farm and moved to his home in Corn.

Father enjoyed good health until about two years ago at which time he entered the Home for Aged in Corn. Because of his weakened condition he was taken to the General Hospital, Clinton, Okla., where he quietly went to be with the Lord on May 9, 1967.

He leaves to mourn, one daughter Bertha, Mrs. A. E. Nikkel of Grove, Okla.; three sons, Menno of Weatherford, Okla., Albert of Bethany, Okla., John R. of Corn; two sisters, Marie, Mrs. A. G. Duerkson, and Sarah, Mrs. C. F. Reimer, and one brother, Isaak, all of Corn; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
