Two Kansas Youths Die in Plane Crash

Kingman, Kan. — Two teenage young men were instantly killed near here the evening of June 19 when their light plane crashed and burned in a wheat field.

Dead are Dennis J. Graber, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Graber of Pretty Prairie, and Bruce W. Bergkamp, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bergkamp of Murdock.

County officials reported the plane struck a telephone line and power lines along a road before nosing into the field where it burst into flames. It is believed the Bergkamp youth was at the controls. Both young men were flying enthusiasts, and Dennis had recently purchased his own plane. He was a member of the Cessna Flying Club.

Funeral services for Dennis were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church, with Rev. Ben Rahn officiating. Services for the Bergkamp youth were held Saturday forenoon at the Catholic Church of Waterloo.
