Parents, Son Killed In Crossing Accident
SERVICES HELD AT ALTONA, MANITOBA FOR FAMILY OF THREE
Altona, Manitoba. — Funeral services were held at the Altona Bergthaler church on Dec. 16 for a family of three who lost their lives in a grade crossing accident at Morrison Sunday, Dec. 12.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bergen and infant son, Arthur James, about one month old, were instantly killed when their car was struck broadside by a Northern Pacific train at the south edge of Morris. The train was slowing down for the station at the time of the crash.
The family had been living in Morris with Mr. Bergen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bergen, who survive. Also surviving are the parents of Mrs. Bergen, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob D. Toews of Gretna. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. P. P. Heinrichs and Rev. John Epp of Lowe Farm.
