NATIVE OF RUSSIA CALLED BY DEATH AT KITCHENER
Kitchener, Ont. — One of the oldest members of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Kitchener, Jacob H. Bergen, passed away on Dec. 19 at the age of 74. He was one of the first members of the congregation when it was organized in the early 1920's and has served the church in various capacities.
Mr. Bergen was born in Russia, on June 26, 1882, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bergen. His wife, the former Lydia Bartel, predeceased him by seven years. Despite his advanced years, Mr. Bergen was still active and daily reported for duty at a button manufacturing company where he had worked for approximately thirty years.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jacob (Hedwig) Enns, of Ottawa, Mrs. Henry (Tillie) Enns and Mrs. Walter (Elvera) Goerz, both of Kitchener and Mrs. Victor (Alice) Penner of Toronto; two brothers, George and Peter, both of Newton, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Voth of Newton, Mrs. Abram Giesbrecht of Winkler, Manitoba and Mrs. Peter Dick of Blaine, Wash.; and eleven grandchildren.
