DIEDRICH BERGEN

Funeral services were held for Mr. Diedrich Bergen, Saskatoon, Sask., in the Mayfair Mennonite Church, Saskatoon. Mr. Bergen passed away in City Hospital as the result of a heart condition. Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. Eugene Gerbrandt, assisted by Rev. H. S. Rempel. Rev. Gerbrandt spoke on Psalm 90:1-10 and Rev. Rempel on Psalm 23. Leona and Deane Buller sang several vocal numbers.

Diedrich Bergen was born to Dietrich and Maria Bergen on April 6, 1907 at Aberdeen, Sask., and was married to Lena Schmidt at Dalmeny, November 27, 1927. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour during an evangelistic campaign held by David Schultz. Together with his wife, he was baptized in 1930 and joined the Dalmeny MB Church. They moved to Saskatoon in 1952 and transferred to the MB church on 33 Street.

In April of 1966 he suffered a severe heart attack and was hospitalized for a period of 10 weeks. He suddenly took ill again on November 7 and passed away on November 9.

He is survived by his wife, Lena, one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Doell of Saskatoon; three sons, Reuben of Grande Prairie, Alta., and Edward and Stanley of Saskatoon. Three sons predeceased him, Ervin and Stanley in infancy, and Leonard at the age of 19. He also leaves to mourn two brothers, Bill of Carrot River, Sask., Henry of High Bluff, Man.; and four sisters, Mrs. Eva Vandenberg, Regina, Sask., Mrs. Sarah Dick, Spirit River, Alta., Mrs. Elizabeth Hiebert, Big River, Sask., and Mrs. Katharine Mills, Victoria, B.C.
