PLANE CRASHES IN PASTURE AT CLEVELAND, KANSAS, KILLING TWO FLYERS

Cleveland, Kansas. — A B-25 Mitchell bomber crashed in the pasture on the P. R. Kaufman farm near here on Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, killing both of its young pilots.

Mr. Kaufman said the plane flew low and struck a high tension line. Members of the Kaufman family moved the bodies away from the wreckage before it exploded.

The flyers were identified as Second Lieutenants Myron J. Benefield of Bowdon, Ga., and Gilbert E. Perry, Jr., Harper’s Ferry, W. Va.
