Wife of Missionary to Choctaw Indians Died Suddenly on Oct. 9

Hesston, Kan. — Mrs. Nevin Bender, the former Esther Lauver, died suddenly Monday, Oct. 9, near Oklahoma City in the car while she and her husband were en route to their home in Philadelphia, Miss.

Bro. Bender had formerly served as bishop at the church in Greenwood, Del. and is presently serving in the Nanih Waiya Mennonite Church among Choctaw Indians who live near Philadelphia, Miss.

He had spoken at the Kansas All-Mennonite Women's Meeting in Harper last Thursday. They spent the weekend in Hutchinson and on Monday visited friends in Hesston, leaving here at 11:35 a.m.

Funeral services were to be held at Philadelphia, Miss. on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 11, followed by interment at Greenwood, Del.
