Leader in Amish School Affairs Dies
Gap, Pa. — Aaron E. Beiler, 72, a leader in Amish school affairs, died here May 18 after an extended illness of cancer.
He helped organize the vocational school program adopted in Pennsylvania some years ago. Under the plan, Amish pupils may enroll in vocational school after completion of the eighth grade, instead of attending public high schools. The plan has been copied in several other states which have large Amish settlements.
