ELIZABETH BECKER
Elizabeth Becker, daughter of Peter and Eva Becker, was born June 20, 1906, in Marion, South Dakota and passed away April 29, 1959, at the Halstead Hospital, Halstead, Kansas. She reached the age of 52 years, 10 months and nine days.
In 1920 the family came to Kansas, moving on a farm they had bought two miles southeast of Halstead.
At the age of 14 years she felt the need of a Saviour, repented of her sins and found peace with God through Jesus Christ. Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on March 6, 1921, remaining a faithful member to the end.
On Sept. 1, 1924, her father passed to the Great Beyond. Elizabeth stayed with her mother until her mother was called Home, June 29, 1945. Soon after her mother's death she was employed at the Halstead hospital, where she was working at the time she took sick.
She enjoyed fair health until about two months ago when it was found that she had cancer and her stay upon earth would be short. She was fully resigned to the will of god, be it life or death. She was in the hospital for two weeks, then was taken to the home of her brothers Elias and Herman and family. This was also her home whenever she had a few days off. She enjoyed being home and loved to do things for the family and children. She was thankful for the good care she received from her loved ones. After three weeks her condition became worse and she was taken back to the hospital where after a few days of suffering she peacefully fell asleep.
She had a loving and kind disposition. Her love for people did not permit her to mistreat or be unkind to anyone; she would rather have suffered wrong. Her life was a true example of a Christian filled with love. Her words, hope, joy, and peace in Christ have been an inspiration to all who were privileged to visit with her during her sickness.
She leaves to mourn her departure six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Elias, Herman and Iva, Levi and Lilly of Halstead, Kansas, Pete and Martha of Newton, Kansas, Fred and Amanda of Moundridge, Kansas, Ben and Anna of Portland, Oregon; 27 nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
Her parents, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
