Cornelius Becker

Cornelius Becker of Liberal, Kansas, son of Jacob Becker and Sara Dyck Becker, was born on September 27, 1891, in Harvey county, Kansas, where he also received his education.

In the year 1908 his father moved to Beaver Co., Oklahoma, after the death of the mother in 1907. Here he made his new home, and here he was baptized in September 1910 and was accepted into the membership of Friedensfeld Mennonite Church, of which he was a faithful member to his end.

On Feb. 7, 1912, he was united in holy matrimony to Aganetha Wiens. This union covers a span of o ver 20 years. The pioneer years were hard, but the Lord blessed the labors of their hands and they now have a good home of their own. To this union were born two sons, Eldo and Raymond. He was a good husband and a loving father, and too soon for us came this parting of the way.

In August of this year appeared a disease of the throat, which the doctor had diagnosed as goiter. It developed very quickly and the doctors advised an operation, which was carried out October 22. The operation was satisfactory. On Wednesday pneumonia developed which speedily brought about his end on October 28 at 11:30 A. M. He suffered much, but the end was calm.

He was well grounded in faith and now he is with his Savior, whom he tried to serve as best he knew how.

He had a great part in the development of the church, and worked in Sunday school and Endeavor meetings, and led in singing. He will be missed in his church, and especially by the young people. But in faith we submit to the will of God.

He leaves to mourn his early departure, his loving wife; 2 sons, Eldo 19 years, and Raymond 10 years of age; also 1 brother, 6 sisters, and many other relatives and friends. Now he is at home with the lord, whom he served in his life.

His age covers the span of 41 years, 1 month and 1 day.
