CLINTON -- Stephen R. Baum, 46, of Clinton died 9:57 a.m. Saturday (April 19, 2003) in Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church, Clinton, with the Rev. David Huff officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in McCliman's Cemetery, Hallsville. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: DeWitt County Habitat for Humanity, Little Galilee Christian Assembly or DeWitt County 4-H.

Mr. Baum was born Feb. 4, 1957, in Bloomington, the son of Richard and Marjorie Moser Baum. He was an active partner in Baum Chevrolet Buick Co., Clinton. He started working at the family auto dealership at age 10, becoming a partner with his father, brother and sister. He was affiliated with First Christian Church, Clinton. He served as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher at church. He volunteered his time at DeWitt County 4-H. Mr. Baum enjoyed horseback riding, working on his farm, woodworking and volunteering for Clinton Chapter FFA. He was greatly loved. He married Rhonda D. DeMent on July 16, 1977, in Clinton.

Surviving are his wife; parents of Bloomington; children, Rachel and Janell Baum, both of Clinton; stepgrandmother, Audrey Baum of Venice, Fla.; brother, Scott (Nancy) Baum of Clinton; sister, Stephanie (Mike) Company of Bloomington; nephews, Jeffrey Company of Bluffton, Ohio; Joseph (Amy) Company of Goshen, Ind.
