— Mrs. Sylvia Bauer, 64, a sister of Mrs. Eli Yoder of near Walton died shortly after 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Koflin Hospital at Harper, after an illness of one year. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brownell-Wiley Funeral Chapel in Harper, with Rev. Merle Bender, Wichita, officiating and Rev. James Detweiler assisting. Burial will be in the cemetery of the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, of which Mrs. Bauer was a member.

MRS. SYLVIA BAUER

Sylvia Bauer, daughter of Solomon and Mary Jane (Stutzman) Plank, was born Oct. 20, 1895 near Summersville, Mo. She died in the Joslin hospital at Harper, Kansas on Dec. 22, 1959, of a cerebral hemorrhage, reaching the age of 61 years, two months and two days.

She was married on May 8, 1920 to Noah C. Bauer at Harper, Kansas, who survives. Also surviving are Lyle, Jane (Mrs. Levi Eck), and Norman, all of Harper; three grandchildren; one brother, John of Harper; and two sisters, Ida (Mrs. Eli Yoder) of Newton, and Ella, who lives with the father, Solomon Plank, who also survives. Preceding her in death were her mother, one brother, Robert, and one sister, Katharine.

At the age of four she, with her parents, moved to Schickley, Fillmore county, Neb. At the age of 20 they moved to Harper county, Kansas where she resided the remainder of her life.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 15 and united with the Mennonite Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. She will be deeply missed by her immediate family. Like Dorcas of the new Testament, she also ministered well to the spiritual and physical needs of her local community, by which she endeared herself to the hearts of many.

Funeral services were held Dec. 24 at the Brownell-Wiley Funeral Home, at Harper, in charge of Merle Bender. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.
