Mrs. Leah Basinger.

Pandora, Ohio, Dec. 13. — Mrs. Leah Basinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Gratz, was born in Richland township, Allen county, Ohio, Dec. 10, 1858, and passed away at her late home in Pandora, Ohio, on Dec. 8, 1928, at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months and twenty-eight days.

She spent her girlhood days on the home farm with her parents, one and one-half mile southwest of Bluffton. At an early age she joined the Ebenezer church, but later, after moving to Pandora with her family, she transferred her membership to the Grace church.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Noah W. Basinger on May 9, 1881, and lived in happy matrimony for twenty-two years, four months and fourteen days when her companion was taken from her side by the hand of death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Basinger were born eight children, namely: Tilman, Sophia, wife of Chas. Eversole, Orville, Dennis, Della, Hiram, Llewellyn and Luella, wife of Harly Amstutz. Three children, Orville, Dennis and Della died from the effects of diphtheria when still in infancy.

Rev. P. E. Whitmer, present pastor of the Grace church, had charge of the funeral. Rev. Whitmer used as his text Prov. 14, 26: In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence and his children shall have a place of refuge. Rev. Dilbert, local patsor [sic] of the M. E. church, and who was a near neighbor to Mrs. Basinger, also assisted by reading a Scripture passage and offering prayer. interment took place at the Ebenezer cemetery by the side of her deceased husband Mr. Noah W. Basinger.
