Funeral services were held for Mrs. Katie Bartel, 80, on Friday, Aug. 25 in the Swiss Mennonite Church at Alsen, N. D. She passed away early Tuesday morning Aug 22 at the Cando Hospital. Officiating at the services was Rev. Herbert Dalke, with interment at Alsen cemetery beside the grave of her husband.

Pallbearers were Roland Spenst, Dave Klein and Frank Pankratz, all of Alsen; John Toews and Alvin Bartel [''sic'' on Nov. 24, 1900 at Stark &#8212; duplicates phrase in following pargraph] tel of Minot.

Mrs. Katie Bartel, daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Graber, was born Nov. 20, 1880 at Freeman, S. D. She married peter Bartel on Nov. 24, 1900 at Starkweather.

The couple then lived in the Langdon vicinity where Mr. Bartel had homesteaded in 1897. In 1935 they moved to Alsen where she has since resided. Her husband passed away in 1958.

Survivors include a son, Dr. C. P. Bartel of Edmore; three daughters, Mrs. Hubert Waltner (Esther), Hurley, S. D., Mrs. Henry Loewen (Emmalyn), Munich, Mrs. Arthur Jonson (Elizabeth), Alsen. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Adina Bartel, Alsen, Mrs. Anna Graber, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Helen Willis, Souderton, Pa.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
