PETER P. BARTEL
Peter P. Bartel was born October 14, 1894 at Rudnerweide, Russia. On November 3, 1923, he married Helena Klassen of Steinfeld, Russia. Because of national unrest they migrated to Canada in 1925 and settled in the Langham, Sask., district.
In the spring of 1928 they moved to Glenbush, Sask., where they fanned for 31 years. Both became members of the Mennonite Brethren church on September 23, 1928. In 1959 they retired to Saskatoon, Sask.
Due to failing health Mr. Bartel entered the Invalid Home at Rosthern, Sask. on September 8, 1965. He spent many quiet hours in prayer, and reading and meditating on God's Word. He remained here until the Lord peacefully called him to his reward on Friday, June 2, 1967, reaching the age of 72 years.
One daughter, three sons and one granddaughter preceded him in death, also one brother and one sister who remained in Russia.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Mrs. Helena Bartel at the Invalid Home, Rosthern; one son, Henry Bartel of North Battleford; four daughters, Helen (Mrs. Jake Isaak of Medstead), Erna (Mrs. Gerhard Wiens of Vernon, B.C.), Katie (Mrs. John Siemens of Medstead) and Elfrieda of Three Hills, Alta; one daughter-in-law and three sons-in-law; 12 grandchildren, one brother, Mr. Franz Bartel of Leamington, Ont., Anna Janzen of Coaldale, Alta., and Mrs. Elizabeth Woelk, Russia, and many friends.
In the mourning of this passing the family is reminded of their father's love and care, and his faith and victory in the Lord. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away" (Rev. 21:4).
