• Funeral services for David A. Bartel, 88, were held Monday forenoon at the First Mennonite Church of Halstead with Rev. D. C. Wedel officiating. A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Bartel had been a farmer and was a member of the Garden Township Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge. He married Marie F. Dyck in 1912. She survives along with three sons, Roland, Durango, Colo., Olen, Hydro, Okla., and Marvin, Gap, Pa.; three daughters, Frances Bartel, Dorothy Dick and Mildred Mueller, all of Halstead; and a sister, Mrs. Susie Friesen of Whitewater, Mr. Bartel died July 15 at Halstead Hospital and was buried at Halstead Cemetery.
