MRS. ANNA B. BARTEL

Anna B. Bartel, daughter of John and Anna Franz, was born May 20, 1885, southeast of Buhler, Kansas, in Reno county.

She attended school in Reno county and resided with her parents until her marriage, October 30, 1905, to David B. Bartel. To this union was born three daughters and two sons, all of whom survive. After her marriage she and her husband located on a farm in Reno county for a while, then moved to Oklahoma, living there several years. In 1914 they moved back to a farm in Reno county, where she has spent the remainder of her life with her husband and family.

On June 1, 1903, she was baptized by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite church near Buhler.

She was a patient and kind mother and her children never made her nervous. She loved to sing, and each child was taught a song. She loved her family and was concerned for their spiritual welfare, and often remarked to the children, “Children, I have prayed often for you."

The survivors include the husband of the home; three daughters, Minnie Jansen of Buhler, Lily Pauls of McPherson, Linda Janzen of Hutchinson; two sons, Allen of Buhler and Earl of Moundridge; three sisters, Mary Dick, Katie Schmidt and Lizzie Gaeddert, all of Buhler; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of loving friends.

During her illness and stay in the hospital Mrs. Bartel was continuously cheered by the many expressions of love sent to her in the many cards, letters and floral offerings which she received. Her gratitude was great to all her friends who loved her and remembered her in this way.
