MRS. FRANK H. BANMAN

Anna Quiring Banman was born Feb. 16, 1880 in McPherson county, Kansas to Peter and Anna Schmidt Quiring. She was baptized on confession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour by Elder Peter Balzer on May 29, 1898 and joined the Alexanderwohl church where she retained her membership till the time of her death.

Mother received her elementary education in the Pleasant Valley District school. One of the activities of her youth which she often mentioned was the “singstunde” (choir practice) which was held weekly in the school house and attended by the young people of the community.

She was united in marriage with Franz H. Banman on Nov. 20, 1902 by Rev. C. C. Wedel at the home of her parents. Four children, two sons and two daughters, were born to this union of whom one son, Erwin, died at the age of four months. They spent their entire married life on a farm northwest of Goessel until Jan. 23 of this year when they made their home in Goessel. Mother and Father shared life's joys and sorrows for 57 years and four months.

Although mother's activities were limited to some extent due to a heart condition she enjoyed comparatively good health. In November of 1959 her health began to fail rapidly and on December 24 she entered Bethesda hospital. She underwent surgery on Jan. 12 after which her ailment was diagnosed as cancer. She was dismissed from the hospital Feb. 9 and was privileged to spend the rest of her days at home. Here she passed away March 10, 1960, having reached the age of 80 years and 23 days.

Mother loved to read her Bible and the verses in the ”Gesangbuch.” During her illness it gave her great comfort to have someone read these verses to her. She was very fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them dearly.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Franz H. Banman; Arthur and wife Frieda of North Newton, Kansas; Rachel and husband Karl of Hillsboro, Kansas; Arpa of the home; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one half sister, Marie Quiring; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 13, in the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church, with Rev. John Thiessen in charge. Rev. W. W. Harms, a former neighbor of the Banmans, assisted with services in the Miller funeral home preceding the services in the church. — The Family.
