OLDEST RESIDENT OF MOUNTAIN LAKE, MINN. CLAIMED BY DEATH

Mt. Lake, Minn. — A long and active life came to a close here with the passing on April 19 of Mrs. Jacob Balzer, at 96 the oldest resident of this community. She had lived at the Eventide Home since January. Funeral services were held at the Bethel Mennonite Church.

Mrs. Balzer was the widow of Rev. Jacob Balzer, early day minister and founder of the Preparatory Bible School. In the 1890's and later she served the community as a doctor's assistant in delivering babies, and was also community undertaker. In later years she operated a tailor shop.
