ANNA BAERGEN
Anna Baergen of Hutchinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Baergen, was born Jan 30, 1894, and died at the age of 61 years, two months, and 10 days, on April 10, 1955, after an illness of seven months. Her father preceded her in death in 1953.
Through the influence of a Christian home and religious training in church and school, she was led to Christ and was baptized upon confession of faith on June 15, 1913, by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff at the Hoffnungsau church, Inman, Kansas and was received as a member into the Hoffnungsau church.
She lived in Kansas all of her life with the exception of three years at Lake Charles Louisiana. After her return from Louisiana she transferred her membership to the Buhler Mennonite church, Buhler, Kansas, of which she was a member until her departure.
Anna's life has been one of kind service to others, especially to the sick. Although her strength and vitality were limited, she was always willing to do what she could. Nearly two years ago, after having recovered from surgery which left her with a handicap of the left arm, she waited on her mother during a serious illness, taking care of her like a nurse while her mother was confined to a bed in the home.
She leaves to mourn her departure her mother, Mrs. Anna Baergen, Hutchinson; four sisters, Mrs. H. F. Reimer of Inman; Mrs. A. B. Unruh of Hutchinson; Marie of Halstead, and Mrs. Bertha Tiarht of Hutchinson; George of Bazine, Herbert of Hutchinson, and Arnold of Bakersfield, Cal.; nieces and nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Anna had a great yearning to meet her Saviour and was granted this wonderful privilege on Easter morning at 6:45.
