ANNE BAERG

Justina Anne Baerg passed away Mar. 22 in Chilliwack (B.C) General Hospital after a 4-month battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 10, 1920 to Peter and Helena Wiebe in Borden, Sask. The family attended Brotherfield MB Church. The family moved to a farm in Acme, Alta. in 1928 and to Coaldale, Alta. in 1931. The family had musical talent, and most sang in the church choir that their father conducted. They also performed solo, duet, quartet and octet numbers. After grade 8, Anne stayed at home to help with household duties due to her father's illness. Although an obedient, well behaved child, she came under the conviction of sin and walked forward at a revival meeting with R.E. Neighbor in Coaldale MB Church in 1935. Muriel Preston, pianist (and later the wife of Alberta premier Ernest Manning), prayed with her and led her to the Lord. She was baptized and joined Coaldale MB Church Sept. 3, 1937. She married Henry R. Baerg Feb. 23, 1941. They farmed for 5 years. In 1946 they sold the farm and moved to Winnipeg. Henry studied at MB Bible College and then at Tabor College, Hillsboro, Kan. They pastored in Durham, Kan. for 4 years and in Henderson, Neb. for 3 years. They then returned to Manitoba, where Henry taught at MBBC, pastored Portage Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg and then served 10 years as president of Winkler Bible Institute. They lived in Oregon for 12 years, then retired to Chilliwack and joined Chilliwack Central MB Church. She enjoyed good health most of her life. She was hospitalized Jan. 1, 2001 . She did not complain, but was content to the end. She is mourned by Henry; children Don of Berlin, Germany, Eleanor of Chilliwack, Sam of Salina, Kan., Charity Peters of Winkler, Paul of Los Angeles and David of Winnipeg; 8 grandchildren and 1 sister. The funeral was Mar. 27 in Chilliwack Central MB Church, with Adam Wiggins and P.R.Toews ministering.
