Mountain Lake Observer - 1994: Funeral services for Mr. David Baerg, 96, of Mt. Lake, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 1994, at the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, with Pastor John Kroeker officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Mt. Lake Cemetery. Mr. Baerg died Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake. Visitation will be held at the Eifert Funeral Home in Mt. Lake on Thursday, Nov. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 25, from 8 to 11 a.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. David Baerg, the son of Jacob G. and Anna (Penner) Baerg David Baerg, was born January 15, 1898, on a farm in Butterfiled [sic] Township, Watonwan County, MN. He received his education in the German Bible School and a country school. On May 28, 1917, he was baptized upon confession of his faith and was received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake. He was united in marriage to Agatha Krahn on September 5, 1920, at her parents' home in Cottonwood County. The couple lived and farmed Northeast of Delft until Oct. 21, 1952, when they retired and moved into Mt. Lake. While living in town, David and Agatha served as custodians for the First Mennonite Church for over 21 years. Agatha died on January 17, 1982. David enjoyed doing carpentry work, cement work, and other odd jobs for people. On Sept. 27, 1985, David entered the Eventide Home in Mt. Lake. He moved to the Good Samaritan Village in September of 1994. He is survived by two sons, Clarence Baerg of Delft and Edward Baerg and his wife Marcella "Sally" of Bingham Lake; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob Baerg of Butterfield; three sisters - Anna Harder of Mt. Lake, Sara Harder and her husband Peter of Mt. Lake, and Susie Epp of Henderson, NE; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Gerhard, Peter, Peter, and John; a sister in infancy, Susana; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Baerg.
