ANNA L. BAER

Anna L., daughter of Gerhardt and Elizabeth Groll Dahlem, was born in the parental home four miles southeast of Summerfield, Ill., on Oct 10, 1871. Here she grew to young womanhood.

For more than a year her health had been failing and on March 14 her condition became serious and she entered the St. Joseph hospital in Highland, Ill. for care and treatment. Serious complications set in and at ten minutes past two on the morning of March 23 she departed from this life to continue in the life eternal. Her age was 78 years, five months and 13 days.

She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Christ as her Savior on Oct. 28, 1884, by Rev. Jacob Krehbiel, pastor of the Summerfield Mennonite church, and was received into the membership of the church. She took an active interest in her church, was a member of the Mary and Martha Missionary Society of the church. She was a regular attendant at the services so long as her health and strength enabled her to worship in God's house.

She was united in holy marriage with Daniel E. Baer on Nov. 4, 1894, in Summerfield, Ill. They established their home on the farm south of Summerfield, where they lived until they moved to Summerfield 25 years ago. Her husband passed away March 20, 1937. Two children were born to this marriage, a son, Milton of near Summerfield, and a daughter, Anna E. who lived with her mother.

She is survived by her son, Milton and wife, Amanda; her daughter Anna: two grandsons, Willis Eyvan Baer and Merle Elroy Baer; a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends and neighbors. Five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

Mother, grandmother, Aunt Annie as she was known to many, is with us no longer. The sound of her voice is stilled, the touch of her hand will be felt no more. Blessed are they who die in the Lord.

Funeral services were held in the Summerfield Mennonite church on Sunday afternoon, March 26, in charge of Rev. Henry Grimm and assisted by Rev. A. S. Bechtel, her former pastor.
