text of obituary:
RUDOLPH BADERTSCHER, aged 65 years, following a stroke, died at the home of a son near his farm home west of Kidron, on March 18. The son of Frederick and Maria Steffen Badertscher, he was born in Canton, Bern, Switzerland, on September 9, 1873, and came with his parents, brothers and sisters to Wayne County, Ohio, at the age of eight years, where he resided since. At the age of sixteen years he was baptized by Rev. S. F. Sprunger of Berne, Ind., and received into membership of the Salem Mennonite church near Dalton, Ohio. On May 17, 1896, he was united in marriage with Miss Amelia Amstutz, a member of the same church. Ten children were born to this union, one daughter Helen preceding her parents at the age of three years. He lived in happiness with his helpmate for 39 years, until she was called to her eternal home three years ago. The departed knew, in his younger years what it means to make a living through strict economy and hard labor, but always found time for spiritual inspiration, gave cheerfully towards the upbuilding of God’s kingdom, and prospered. He is survived by the following children, Lloyd and Willis of Apple Creek, Clarence of Orrville, Earl of Wooster, Mrs. Luella Moser of Dalton, Mrs. Bernice Raber of Apple Creek, Nora of Wooster, Lester and Mrs. Arline Sommer of Dalton. There are also 17 grandchildren, one brother, Fred Badertscher of Dalton, and one sister, Mrs. Sam King of Pandora. He was preceded by two brothers, John and Christian of Dalton, and one sister, Mrs. Adam Amstutz of Pandora. Funeral services took place on Sunday, March 20, conducted by Rev. A. R. Keiser, assisted by Dr. H. A. Fast, and attended by a host of relatives and friends.
