Ester Bachmann

Ester Bachman [sic Bachmann], daughter of Rev. Henry A. and Emma Krehbiel Bachman [sic Bachmann], was born in Freeman, So. Dak. on August 6, 1906.

In June 1915 she came to Woodlake, California, with her parents. Here she attended school and graduated from Woodlake Union high school in 1924. Later she attended Los Angeles Bible Institute for two years.

At the age of 13 she accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized on confession of faith, joining the First Mennonite church of Woodlake. Later, when this church discontinued its services, she united with the Presbyterian church of the same place, where she remained a faithful member until her end.

She was a faithful worker in Christian Endeavor. She was a member of the county C. E. Executive Board as Missionary Chairman. She was very much interested in missions, and spent much time and energy to create more missionary interest among the different C. E. groups of the county.

On October 20, 1937, she was suddenly attacked by a baffling malady for which medical science does not seem to have found a cause nor cure. Electric and chiropractic treatments brought here [sic] some relief and made the remainder of her life easier.

A fall, most likely, caused concussion of the brain, and she passed away on October 1, 1938, at the age of 32 years, 1 month and 25 days.

She leaves to mourn her early departure her mother, a brother, a sister, a brother-in-law, three nephews, one niece, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral rites were held in the Woodlake Presbyterian church on October 3 with Dr. Gillespie officiating.
