Mother and Daughter Suffocate in Fire
TRAGEDY STRIKES DONALD E. BACHMAN FARM HOME NEAR EUREKA, ILL.
Metamora, Ill. — A tragic fire at the Donald E. Bachman farm home three miles southeast of Eureka on Feb. 6 claimed the lives of Mrs. Bachman, 26, and her daughter, Debra Kay, 5.
The bodies of Mrs. Bachman and daughter were found in an upstairs bedroom. Death apparently was caused by suffocation, although both suffered second and third degree burns.
Two younger Bachman children, Darrell, 3, and David, 2, were rescued from the burning house by Mrs. Bachman's brother, Edward Fink of El Paso. Another daughter, Diana, was attending school and Mr. Bachman was away attending a stock sale.
Most of the fire damage was on the first floor of the hosue.
