GERALD EDWIN AUGSPURGER

We love young men for what they promise to be. For Edwin Augspurger youth was the period of building, in habits, hopes and faith looking to a destiny. His young man was offering and unfolding itself to the influence of God's infinite, eternal and incomprehensible being.

A young man becomes a sterling character when he chooses the right with an invincible resolution. Edwin so chose with the unfeigned exercise of humility. Surely God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to take him home that others might be led to a more solemn regard for the spiritual and eternal elements which are the true values of all life.

Gerald Edwin Augspurger, the son of Gerald and Cleo Ogden Augspurger, was born on July 17, 1942 at Ottumwa, Iowa. He was reared and spent his youth at Pulaski. His earlier schooling was in the Pulaski schools from which he was graduated in the high school class of 1960. His college studies were at Bluffton (Ohio) College, where he was in his junior year of work. He passed away at the Davis County Hospital on March 8, 1963 at the age of 20 years, seven months and 26 days. The end came, as he had lived, in peace.

The surviving members of the surviving circle are his father and mother, two brothers, J. Ogden and his wife Elizabeth of Kidron, Ohio, and Sam, a student at Bluffton College. Other relatives and many friends will likewise miss his presence in the partaking of God's holiness.

Edwin was baptized in the Pulaski Mennonite Church and from an early age was a faithful member of the young peoples organization. He was an active and interested participant in the progress and program of this group.

Memorial Services were held Monday, March 11, at Bluffton College, and in his own church at Pulaski, Iowa on March 12. Interment was in the West Cemetery in Pulaski.
