● Adolph A. Auernheimer, 88, who farmed for many years in the Halstead community, died Sunday morning at a Haven rest home where he had been a patient 12 days. He had suffered several strokes. Services were conducted Wednesday forenoon at the Halstead Mennonite Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Arnold Funk officiating. a native of Summerfield, Ill., Mr. Auernheimer came to the Halstead community in 1912 and had lived in this area since except for some years spent in California. His wife, Clara, died last year. Surviving are three daughters, four sons, 19 grandchildren.

ADOLPH A. AUERNHEIMER

Adolph Andrew Auernheimer, son of Jacob A. and Susanna Seitz Auernheimer, was born at Summerfield, Ill. on June 29, 1877, and went to his heavenly reward on Aug. 8, 1965, having reached his 88th birthday on June 29 this year. His health had been failing for several months but not until July 14 did he become seriously ill. his wife preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1964.

Following the early death of his mother when he was nine years old, and his father's passing five years later, he made his home with relatives. At an early age he moved to Moundridge, Kan.

On Dec. 14, 1904, he was united in holy matrimony to Clara C. Goebel of the Garden Church. Following their marriage they lived at Deer Creek and Gotebo, Okla. where one son and three daughters were born. In 1912 the family settled near Halstead and Burrton, Kan. Here three more sons were born into the family circle.

In 1939 Mr. and Mrs. Auernheimer made sale and moved to California to be near three of their children. In 1941 they returned to their farm at Burrton, Kan. for a period of eight years, when they again moved to California. They returned to Kansas in 1957 to live with or near their children at Augusta, Halstead and Wichita.

Survivors include seven children: Jacob and Selma Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer] of Reedley, Calif.., Mrs. Florence Gomez of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Ann Pankratz of Augusta, Kan., Walter of Wichita., Kan., Arthur of Phoenix, Ariz., and Roy of Halstead, Kan.; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the First Mennonite Church in Halstead on August 11 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Arnold E. Funk officiating. Vocal music was furnished by Mrs. Lillian Dick and Mrs. John E. Will with Mrs. Harvey Vogt as organist. Burial was in Garden Township Mennonite Cemetery north of Halstead.
