— Peter C. Andres, 63, well-known retired farmer of Newton, died early Monday at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. J. E. Entz in charge of a brief service at the home in Newton, followed by services at the First Mennonite Church in charge of Rev. Arnold Epp. Mr. Andres was a lifelong resident of Harvey County, moving to Newton from the farm in 1950. Surviving are the widow, who was Minnie Suderman; two sons, Walter K. of Route 5, Newton, and Harold K. of Route 3, Newton; four sisters, Mrs. G. P. Regier of Route 3, Mrs. B. C. Regier, Elizabeth Andres and Katie Andres, all of Newton; one brother, Herman J. Andres of Newton; and seven grandchildren.

PETER C. ANDRES

Our loving husband and father, Peter C. Andres, went to be with his Lord on March 3, 1958. He was born on Jan.15, 1895, to Gustav and Anna Andres. He grew to manhood and received his education in Harvey County, Kansas and engaged in farming there throughout his active life.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith by Elder Jacob Toevs and united with the First Mennonite Church of Newton on May 15,1920. He found great pleasure in teaching a young boys Sunday school class for over 20 years. He was also active in numerous church and community activities.

On April 10, 1919, he was united in marriage to Minnie Suderman and they shared nearly 29 years of joys and sorrows. Our home was blest with three children, Walter, Ruth, and Harold. Ruth preceded him in death March 23, 1944.

In July 1950 he retired and and moved to the present home address in Newton. After two years his active life was limited due to failing health. He found pleasure in serving his Lord by sharing company with sick friends. He found much enjoyment in the company of his grandchildren, Kathleen, Mary Ann, Elaine, Richard, Cynthia, Marsha, and Christine.

He leaves to mourn the following loved ones: his wife; Walter and Elda and family, Harold and Eva Mae and family; four sisters and one brother, and a host of relatives and friends.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
