Adam J. Amstutz was born Nov. 25, 1897 to Joel S. and Mary Bixler Amstutz. He was a lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ohio where he engaged in dairy farming. In 1961 he moved to Kidron.

He was baptized in the Mennonite Church and was an active member until ill health kept him in his home.

In 1961 he lost the sight in his second eye due to a blood clot, which had happened to the other eye one year earlier. He suffered a number of strokes, and also survived the amputation of both feet in November 1966 due to poor circulation caused by arteriosclerosis. His last months were relatively free from pain and he enjoyed religious radio broadcasts as well as visits with many friends. He suffered a fatal stroke two days before his death on July 17, 1967.

Surviving him are his wife, the former Lydia Sprunger; four daughters, Mrs. Lester (Rose Marie) Diller of Orrville, Mrs. Robert (Celia) Blough of Deshler, Mrs. Thomas (Effie) Badertscher, Dalton, Mrs. Harley (Ethel) Himes, Kidron; one brother, Gideon of Orrville, two sisters, Mrs. William (Carolyn Eschliman, and Mrs. Daniel (Lina) Eberly both of Dalton; and 14 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held July 19 at the Salem Mennonite Church, Kidron, with Rev. G. T. Soldner of Bluffton and Rev. Reuben Hofstetter of Kidron officiating.

ADAM J. AMSTUTZ

Adam J. Amstutz was born Nov. 25, 1897 to Joel S. and Mary Bixler Amstutz. He was a lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ohio where he engaged in dairy farming. In 1961 he moved to Kidron.
