ADAM AMSTUTZ

Adam Amstutz, a lifelong member of the Bluffton, Ohio Mennonite community passed away at the Bluffton hospital on march 2, 1943, and was buried at the Ebenezer Mennonite cemetery on March 5.

He was the son of Christian U. and Fannie (Neuenschwander) Amstutz, and was born Jan.2, 1864, on the old homestead pioneered by his father. Here he lived all his life, except during the last four years when he and his sister Barbara, who preceded him in death two years ago, moved to Bluffton. Mr. Amstutz died as the result of a bad fall, being ill only a week. He united with the Ebenezer church early in his youth, and was an active member until his death.

The Amstutz home, which is directly east of the church was always open to conference visitors and Mennonites from all over the country made use of its hospitality. Among Mr. Amstutz's valued possessions are many pictures of prominent Mennonite preachers and of conference groups.

He leaves to mourn his death four brothers, David, Ephraim, Christian D. of Bluffton, and Ulrich S. of Wisner, Nebraska.
