American Horse, Darlene Ann (1956-2008)

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Darlene American Horse (Esevoneme'ehne'e) moved on to the spirit world on Feb. 10, 2008 in Sheridan. Darlene was born on June 17, 1956, in Crow Agency, Mont., the daughter of Ernest and Carrie (White Wolf) American Horse. Darlene was an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. She grew up and attended school in Busby, Mont., and Twin Falls, Idaho. Following graduation, she received her AA degree at Sheridan Community College in Sheridan. She married Jon W. Green in Lodge Grass, Mont., and later separated from this union. She worked as a chemical dependency specialist at Thunder Child and as a youth counselor at Normative Services. Darlene was a member of the Mormon Church and enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, attending powwows and doing beadwork.

Darlene is survived by her children, Joey Lee Green of Sheridan, Sonja Marie Green and Joshua Djon Green, both of Seattle; her parents, Ernest and Carrie American Horse; her siblings, Marge (Chuck) Eagleman of Lame Deer, Alberta ( Burton Sr.) Fisher of Birney, Mont., Priscilla (C. Michael) Reed of Kirby, Mont., Rosalee (Patrick) Moore of Twin Falls, Newton American Horse of Sheridan, Sam American Horse of Uneeda, W.Va., Bob Bragg of Casper and Orvilla (Jim) Burris of Sheridan and Mickey Wolfe of Sheridan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Wake service will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., at Christ the King Church in Busby. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., at Christ the King Church in Busby.

Burial will follow in the Busby Cemetery in Busby. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth have been entrusted with these arrangements.
