text of obituary:
Aeschliman — Samuel Aeschliman was born in Switzerland December 8, 1860. He grew up in the German Reformed church. He came to Pulaski, Ia., in the year 1881. In the year 1881 he made a short visit to his old home, returning the same year, accompanied by two brothers and one sister, to Pulaski, Ia. The same year he united with the Mennonite church and remained a faithful and dutiful member of that church to the end. In the year 1837 he came to Washington territory. In the year 1900 he was married to Sister Ida Sommers of Silverton, Ore. This was a happy union, blessed with twelve children, one dying in infancy. Of him can be said that he believed with his whole house. About 41 years ago, he, with a few others, organized a small Sunday school. Up to about 3 years ago he always filled a position. In the beginning often two and three positions. When in the year 1893 our small church was organized he was one of the first ones. He did more for the pastor, the church and missions, than any other member of our church. He was absent very, very seldom. As far as we can remember he was late only twice and only a few minutes. About four months ago his health began to fail. It was a disease without any pain. He got weaker and weaker. Early the 31st of October he went to sleep to awake in glory.
The funeral, which was the largest this neighborhood ever had, took place November 2nd, conducted by Rev. M. J. Galle, assisted by Bro. Dwight Ensley, a Sunday school scholar of the departed one. Yes, we mourn and miss him, but not as such who have no hope. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
