Louis Fred Aeschliman, zweiter Sohn von Fred und Rose Aeschliman, ward am 1. Mai 1885 zu Davis Coounty, Iowa geboren und starb im Sacred Heart Hospital zu Spokane, Wash. im Alter von 61 J. und 3 Monaten. Als er 2 Jahre alt war ließ sich die Familie in Whitman Co., Wash. nieder und er wohnte seither da. Am 14. Febr. 1909 heiratete er Luara Jenkins und 5 Kinder wurden ihnen geboren: Harold, Colfax; Vernon, Spokane; Frau Alfred Schutz, New York; Leland, Spokane; und Floyd, der im Dienst als Infantrist starb. Der Heimgerufene ward in 1900 in der Colfax Mennonitenkirche getauft und war zeitlebens ein aktrives Glied in verschiedenen Aemtern, wie S. S. Lehrer, Chorleiter, 7 Jahre als Schreiber-Kassier, und Trustee in welchem Amt er 24 Jahre diente. Auch im Gemeinleben war er aktiv und diente in Schulämtern, war Direktor der Telephon Company und der Cemetery Association. Er war aktiv bis er vor 3 Monaten erst nach dem Colfax und dann nach dem Spokane Hospital gebracht wurde. Es überleben ihn seine Gattin, 3 Söhne, 1 Tochter, 3 Enkel, 5 Brüder: Will, Edward, Sam, Ira und John, alle von der Colfax Umgegend, 2 Schwestertn [sic]: Frau Mary Buri, Colfax, und Frau Elmer D. Widmer, Albany, Oregon; 1 Onkel, Ernst Aeschliman, Colfax; und eine Tante, Frau Rose Rubin, Pullman, Wash. Die Begräbnisfeier fand am 3. August in der Mennonitenkirche statt unter der Leitung von Pred. W. Harley King und Mitwirkung des Methodisten-prediger.

Louis F. Aeschliman

Louis Fred Aeschliman, second son of the late Fred and Rose Aeschliman, was born in Davis county, Iowa, May 1, 1885, and passed away at Sacred Heart hospital, Spokane, Wash., July 31, 1946, at the age of 61 years and three months.

At the age of two years the family located in Whitman county, Washington, where the departed grew to manhood and spent his life farming.

He was united in marriage with Laura Jenkins on February 14, 1909. To them were born five children: Harold of Colfax; Vernon of Spokane; Mrs. Alfred Schutz of New York; Leeland [sic Leland] of Spokane and Floyd, who died in infancy.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite church of Colfax in 1900. He was an active member of the church through the years, serving in various capacities: As Sunday School teacher; choir director, as well as trustee, in which office he served for 24 years. For 7 years he served very capably as secretary-treasurer of the church.

In the community life he also was active and served in various offices as school director, in the telephone company and the community cemetery association. He was active in all his duties until three months ago when he was taken to the hospital, first at Colfax and later to Spokane.

He is survived by his widow; three sons, one daughter, three grandchildren; five brothers, Will, Edward, Sam, Ira and John all of Colfax and vicinity; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Buri of Colfax and Mrs. Elmer D. Widmer of Albany, Ore.; one uncle, Ernest Aeschliman of Colfax, and one aunt, Mrs. Rose Rubin of Pullman, Wash., as well as a host of other more distant relatives and neighbors, friends who shall miss his passing from our midst.

Funeral services were conducted August 3 at the Mennonite church by his pastor, W. Harley King, assisted by the Methodist pastor.
