Mrs. Emma S. Ackerman, nee Shelly, was born May 20, 1859. On March 26, 1875, she was baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and admitted into the West Swamp, Pa., Mennonite Church. On December 23, 1876, she was united in marriage to Jacob Ackerman, with whom she shared joys and tasks for more than 56 years. Her husband preceded her in death, having died August 30, 1930. Mrs. Ackerman is survived by her only daughter, Mrs. E. Minerva Mory. Early on Tuesday morning, March 5, 1935, the Lord called her home. Her age at death was 75 years, 9 months, and 15 days. Text used at the funeral, 1 Peter 1:3-9. Interment at adjoining cemetery. Funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. J. Neuenschwander.
