John Wiens, who takes his place among the first pioneers that came to mt. Lake, Minn., died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Fadenrecht, near Delft, last Sunday, after an illness lasting only six days. He was taken ill on June 25th, apparently with a flue and heart condition, and the end came after less than a week.
He was among the first to come to this country from Russia, where he was born, and settled at once on a farm near Delft, where he lived for more than forty years. He leaves to mourn his death eight children, five sons and three daughters, and seventeen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 5th from the M. B. Church, North. Rev. A. J. Wiebe, Rev. N. N. Hiebert and Rev. J. H. Ewert spoke, and Abr. Kroeker spoke at the cemetery.
