WALTER WIEBE

Walter Wiebe died Sept. 6. He was born Mar. 13, 1927 in Chortitza, Ukraine to Peter and Elizabeth Wiebe. He served in the German army, was wounded and taken prisoner. Upon his release he found his family and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1949. He accepted the Lord at 22. He married Helene Hildebrand Aug. 25, 1951 and settled in Black Creek, B.C. He worked as a logger and a sign painter. He served God through his art, leading music, building a Sunday school mission and a Christian bookstore. In 1976 he moved to Victoria and later to Richmond, B.C. where he worked for B.C. Ferries as a sign painter. They were members of Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford. They enjoyed time with family at their cabin at Shuswap Lake, B.C. He is mourned by Helene; daughters Tillie, Calgary; Charlotte Krahn, North Vancouver; sons Alf, Richmond, B.C. ; Harold, Surrey, B.C.; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; . The funeral was Sept. 13 in Bakerview MB Church.
