HENRY SHIER

Henry Shier, son of Adam and Emily Shier, was born March 29, 1907. He grew up in Winnipeg and there accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in 1923. In 1925 he was baptized by Rev. Erdman Nikkel and received into the North End Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1938 he was united with Katie Engbrecht, a marriage that the Lord blessed with three daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Jack Wiens; Eleanore, who preceded her father in death; and Margret.

During his lifetime Mr. Shier was a faithful labourer in the work of the church. He had served both as Sunday school superintendent and teacher. In earlier years he sang in a quartet with Ed Horch, Ben Horch and Jacob Wedel that served widely. During recent years he was a faithful member of the Central MB Church choir.

He died suddenly, August 16, while at the family's summer cottage. He had reached the age of 58 years. The funeral was held in the Central MB Church with C. Wall and Jake Sudermann ministering. He is survived by his wife Katie, and two daughters, Ruth and Margret, and son-in-law Jack Wiens.
