MRS. P. H. SCHROEDER

Mrs. P. H. Schroeder was born Anna Nickel, youngest daughter of Anna and Henry Nickel, on June 10, 1881 in Hillsboro, Kan., where she lived her entire life. She had two sisters, Louis and Marie, and a brother, Edward.

She was baptized on Aug.6,1899 by Rev. J. S. Hirschler and received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro, Kan., where she remained an enthusiastic faithful member. She always took her church responsibilities seriously and attended Sunday school and services regularly. She spent many years as a Sunday school teacher and was active in mission society, choir and church organizations.

As a young woman she assisted her sister Louisa in her millinery shop.

On June 8, 1904 she was married to Peter H. Schroeder. To this union four daughters and one son were born. Preceding here in death were: one son, Wesley Walter, at the age of four and a half, and one daughter, Bernice, at the age of 15.

In 1954 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and last June God granted them the rare privilege of observing their 60th anniversary. Her Christian teaching, loving care and happy disposition were a constant inspiration to all.

A sudden illness caused her to enter the Salem Hospital in Hillsboro on Jan. 10. She was conscious to the last and knew that her family was at her side. She passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, Jan.. 16. She attained the age of 83 years, six months and 15 days.

She leaves to mourn, her loving husband, and three daughters: Hildred, Mrs. Herbert Wiebe; Edna, Mrs. Frank Jantz; Lucille, Mrs. Waldo Leisy; the sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her name with the First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro. — The Family.
