text of obituary:

GUSTAV M. NICKEL

Gustav M. Nickel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard (Aganetha Krause) Nickel, was born June 24, 1901, in Washita County, Okla. and passed to his eternal reward Sept. 14, 1957, having reached the age of 56 years, two months and 21 days.

In his youth he realized his need for Salvation from sin and he found this by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour from sin. On May 21,1923, he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus by Elder Jacob Jantzen and united with the Herold Mennonite Church near Bessie, Okla. Later he and his family united with the Bergthal Mennonite Church. Shortly after the First Mennonite Church was organized in Clinton he and his family united with the group in Clinton, where he labored diligently for the Lord until the end of his earthly pilgrimage.

On May 22, 1927, he was united in marriage to Anna Neufeld of Medford, Okla. The Lord blessed this union with five children. However, in the very prime of her life, God chose to transplant mother to gloryland. His faith through this test became stronger. On March 23, 1941, he was married to Margaret Unruh of Meno, Okla. God blessed this union with one son.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife and partner; six children (four sons and two daughters), Gene and wife Billie of Clinton, Della and husband L. E. Smith of Broger, Texas, and Delores, Willard, Elwood and Victor of the home; two grandchildren, Stephen Earl and Kimberly Sue, three brothers, George Nickel of Newton, Kansas, Cornele [sic Cornelius] Nickel of Corn, Okla., Henry Nickel of Clinton,; two sisters, Mrs. Earnest [sic Ernest] Ediger and Mrs. Henry Unruh of Buhler, Kansas; and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, four sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
