PETER G. MARTENS

Peter G. Martens was born on March 8, 1901 in Chortitza, Russia, and died on November 4, 1977 at his home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Together with his family he moved to Orenburg, Russia in 1906, where he spent his childhood and youth. In his late teens he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, and then followed the Lord in baptism and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On August 4, 1921 he married Helen Rempel, who preceded him in death on June 30 of this year. In May, 1925 the Martens emigrated to Canada, settling at McMahon, Saskatchewan, where they reared their family. To this marriage were born 10 children, four of whom predeceased Mr. Martens. In 1952 they moved to a farm at Swift Current, where he resided until his passing. Throughout his life he enjoyed good health, with the exception of three major accidents.

He leaves to mourn six children, two sons, Pete and Calvin; and four daughters, Helen, Daisy, Erna and Nora; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many friends.
